Guard Your Time, Guard Your Love

My mentor recently said something that hit me deep: “Guard your time like you guard your wallet.”  Then the next day, a girlfriend gifted me a book and wouldn't you know, it was all about managing time. That's no coincidence. I believe it was a gentle God-wink, reminding me to pause and really reflect on how I'm stewarding my time.

Here's the truth I've been sitting with: managing our time is not just about productivity, it's really about love.

Let's think about it. When we don't manage our time well, we end up stretched thin, distracted, and unable to show up fully for the people who matter most. When we choose to guard and protect our time, we preserve it, ensuring that our spouse, children, friends, and even ourselves receive the best of us, not just the leftovers.

 Heart Truths:

⏳Time is one of the most sacred gifts we've been entrusted with.

⏳ When we steward it wisely, it becomes an expression of our love.

⏳ Love shows up in how we spend our hours, not just our words.

To love well is to manage well and that includes how we manage our hours, our days, our commitments, and our yes's.

 Loving Well in Action:

So how do we begin protecting our time so we can preserve it for what matters most? Here are two practical ways:

1. Pause before you say yes. Every “yes” is also a “no.” Ask yourself, “Will this help me love well, or will it drain me from what matters most?”

2. Guard your quiet time. Whether prayer, journaling, or resting, keep some space that fills you up, so you can pour out with love.

Your time is one of the greatest gifts you'll ever give. So let's choose to guard it well so our love can be given well.
