Love What They Love

This summer, I had the joy of taking my oldest son, Keishaun, and a few of his friends out to dinner. I wanted to meet the crew he spends so much time with.

So while visiting Minnesota, I made it happen. What better way to connect than over dinner with a table full of growing, always-hungry teenagers?

We laughed, swapped stories, and shared moments that gave me a glimpse into his world. I learned what motivates him, who influences him, and how he shows up around his friends.

Somewhere between the laughter and boneless chicken wings, I realized something simple yet powerful, love deepens when you step into their world. Because in that space, you see them m ore clearly and they see you choosing to care.

 Heart Truths:

When we care about what our people care about, we communicate something words alone can't say: you matter to me.

Love becomes more than a feeling.

❤️ It becomes a bridge.
❤️ It builds trust.
❤️ It invites connection.

When you step into their world, love deepens, connection grows, and hearts draw closer.
It shows your husband, your child, or your friend that they're worth your time, attention, and interest.

Here's the beautiful part,  when you enter their world, it grows yours too.
You learn new things, share in new experiences, and discover more of who they are and who you're becoming through them.

Love multiplies in both directions.

 Loving Well in Action:

Love grows when you take a genuine interest. Try these simple steps this week:

✔️ Ask and Listen. Ask your loved one what's been exciting them lately, then really listen.

✔️ Join In. Watch their favorite show, attend their event, or spend time doing something theyenjoy.

✔️Pray for Understanding. Ask God to help you see their world through His eyes.

Know today that your love has the power to remind someone that they matter and that changes everything.

P.S. Don't forget to celebrate!  Let them know how much it means to you to be part of what matters to them.

Scripture Meditation

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
~ Philippians 2:4 (ESV)
