When Life Feels Choppy…Hold On!

Oh, Do I have a Story for You!

In late August, we had a work fun day to Rose Island. Sounds exciting, right? Let me tell you, to get there, we had to take a boat and not just any boat, a two-deck charter boat in very choppy waters. So you can imagine that this boat ride was no smooth cruise!

That ride had me gripping the railing like my life depended on it. The boat was tossing, turning, dipping, and splashing. I was screaming, laughing, and praying all at the same time!

Eventually, things calmed down. I looked at one of my coworkers and asked, “Y'all feeling this?” She looked back and said, “It's not that we're not feeling it—we're just not reacting like you.”

And that's when the Holy Spirit whispered to me “This is just like life.”

Sometimes, life isn't always calm seas and sunshine. As women navigating marriage, motherhood, friendship, and faith, we feel every wave.  It gets bumpy. Unexpected turns happen. The storms come. If the truth be told, we're all riding something, and how we react makes a difference.  Sometimes, we're the only ones reacting loudly while others seem composed. But the truth is, they feel it too and are also quietly holding on.

Guess what? There's nothing wrong with holding on tight, but let's make sure that we are anchored to the one who calms storms.

 Scripture Meditation:

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”  ~ Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)

Heart Truths

I made it through that boat ride and the other side was absolutely beautiful. Rose Island was peaceful, bright, and honestly, worth the turbulence.

You might feel like you're in your own choppy waters right now…
✔️Maybe it's your marriage.
✔️Maybe it's something with your children.
✔️Maybe you're in a season where nothing seems to be going the way you thought.

I know it may seem hard right now or even scary while you are on this ride. But, I want to encourage you today to hold on. Hold on TIGHT to Jesus - our anchor. Don't give up. Don't let go.

That day taught me that I can hold on and if I do, I will make it through. I have faith to believe that you can too!

So let this be your reminder: You can handle it. You're stronger than you think. Most importantly, storms don't last forever.

There is something beautiful on the other side if you see it through.
