Fret Not

Have you ever had a moment when someone spoke words that brought you so much peace you could feel your shoulders drop?

That happened to me in prayer last week Thursday. I was praying over a family matter, silently carrying it heavy in my heart, when the Holy Spirit whispered “Fret not. Let not your heart be troubled.”

It stopped me in my tracks. The truth is, I was worrying even while I was praying. Honestly, I didn't even realize how much I had been holding in my heart. I had been subconsciously fretting. I was quietly anxious and secretly burdened.

That whisper reminded me of something important: God never meant for us to carry it alone.

It got me thinking about how often we, as women - wives, mothers, leaders, nurturers, carry things God never asked us to.

We pray, but we don't always release.
We show up, but sometimes from a place of pressure instead of peace.

That night, I truly gave it to God and can tell you that I felt lighter and freer.

Scripture Reflection:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." ~ Philippians 4:6 (ESV)

Heart Truths

I don't know what area of your life you've been quietly stressing about lately. Maybe it's your marriage, your children, your ministry, a friendship, your health, or your finances. Whatever it is, hear this today, Fret not. Let not your heart be troubled.

God sees you. He knows what you're carrying and He cares deeply. He's really good at being God, so let Him be.

If He watches over the birds, how much more will He take care of you?

"Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are?” ~Matthew 6:26 (NLT)

Worrying is a weight and you can't afford to stay weighed down in this season.
Your spouse needs you present.
Your children need you steady.
Your ministry needs you whole.
Your relationships need your full heart.

Here's the truth:
💕 You can't love well from a place of worry.
💕 You can't love well from a place of burden.
💕 You can't love well from a place of fear.

Loving Well In Action

So, if you have found yourself secretly fretting like me, here's two things that you can do today to start the process of letting God carry the weight:

  1. Pause and Reflect – Sit still and ask yourself, “What am I secretly anxious about?” Say it out loud or write it down.

  2. Pray and Release – Give it to God on purpose.  Fully surrender and invite Him in, so that He can get to work.

Know that God is watching over every area of your life, and he is concerned about every detail. You don't have to carry it all.

Give it to God. Rest Well. Love Well.
