Nurture What God Sends
I was recently at a conference, and the speaker shared something that stayed with me. He said that God sends divine relationships into our lives to get things to us, but many of us lose those relationships because we never nurture them.
That truth stopped me. I began to think about how often we take people for granted; old friends, new connections, mentors, sisters and even the quiet encouragers in our corner.
We miss the fullness of a relationship when we stop paying attention. Whatever you nurture grows and whatever you neglect weakens. Gratitude helps us see what we have been overlooking. It reminds us to appreciate who God placed in our lives.
Scripture Reflection“I thank my God every time I remember you.” ~ Philippians 1:3
Heart TruthsGratitude changes how we see people. It helps us slow down and recognize the relationships that have been holding us, encouraging us, stretching us, and shaping us. Many of us pray for support, community, and connection, yet overlook the very people God has already placed in our lives.
💕Sometimes the blessing is the friend who checks in.
💕Sometimes it is the sister who prays when you cannot.
💕Sometimes it is the mentor who speaks truth in love.
💕Sometimes it is the quiet, steady person who shows up with no spotlight.
When our lives get busy, we forget to notice these gifts. Gratitude opens our eyes again. It helps us honor the presence of those who carry us through seasons we do not talk about often.
When we are grateful for the people in our lives, we communicate better, slow down and stop assuming they will always be there. We value their presence.
God entrusts us with people for a reason. They are part of our growth, our healing, and even our answered prayers.
Gratitude helps us steward them well so that what God wants to do through that relationship can flourish.
Loving Well In ActionThis week, I took time to pray through the relationships in my life. I asked God to show me who He has sent and how I should nurture those connections. Gratitude was the first place He led me.
Here are ways you can practice it too.
Pause and appreciate. Think of one relationship you may have overlooked. Say a quiet thank you to God for that person.
Ask God for guidance. Pray for wisdom. Ask God how to show up for the relationships He has assigned to you.
Make space for connection. Reach out with intention. Organize a coffee chat, a short phone call, or a voice note. Small acts of gratitude keep relationships alive.
