It Started With a Note: The Story Behind LoveWell

Some stories begin with a big moment.

Mine began with a small note, just a few words, handwritten on paper. Simple, sincere, and full of heart.

I didn’t realize then that those few words would become the seed of something so much bigger.

Hi, I’m Keisha Cleare, a wife, boy mom, woman of faith, and founder of LoveWell.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved writing and it has been my way of sharing love.

The Starting Point

Early in our marriage, I started packing my husband’s lunch. It seemed small at first, but over time, it became one of my favorite ways to show love. It was a simple rhythm of care and thoughtfulness that spoke louder than words. Eleven years later, and I’m still packing that lunch bag. But in 2023, something shifted.

A Season of Struggle

My husband was going through a difficult, stressful season and I felt helpless. Aside from prayer, there wasn’t much I could do.

I remember praying, “God, how can I encourage him in this?” The only answer I received was this quiet urge: write.

So I did. I started tucking little notes into his lunch bag, a few words, a scripture, a reminder, or a lighthearted joke. Something just for him.

What began as a simple act became a sacred rhythm. These notes evolved. Some were funny, some romantic, others motivational. I found joy in writing each one. It was a way for me to pack a bit of hope, honor, and love into his day. It was a small surprise to say, I see you. I’m with you. I believe in you.

When Love Takes Root

Over time, I began to notice something beautiful. He looked forward to the notes, and on days I forgot to include one, he’d ask about it. That surprised me because, honestly, I wasn’t always sure it mattered. I’d question whether I was wasting time and if the notes were making any real difference.

Gradually, I could see the difference they made, not just in his mood, but in his spirit. He was lighter, more encouraged, more grounded. The weight he’d been carrying didn’t seem quite as heavy.

Honestly, that did something to me too. Watching how those handwritten words strengthened him reminded me that God can use even our smallest acts to bring comfort, joy, and peace to someone we love.

The Day I Knew It Mattered

I’ll never forget the day I called him at work and saw one of my notes pinned to his cubicle wall. My heart melted because he had kept the note. What started as a simple sticky note had become a daily reminder of encouragement.

In that moment, I knew this wasn’t random. It mattered. I saw what my words had done. They gave him strength on hard days and reminded him that he was loved, supported, and covered in prayer.

When God Whispered

Then, in November 2024, while packing his lunch like I’d done a hundred times before, the Holy Spirit whisperred something that changed everything: “This is ministry, lunch bag ministry.” That moment brought everything into focus.

These weren’t just notes, they were seeds. Seeds planted in love, watered with intention, and rooted in faith.

What had started as a daily routine became my quiet ministry. It was my way of nurturing a healthy marriage and speaking life over my husband.

And that’s how LoveWell was born.

Scripture Meditation

“Every wise woman encourages and builds up her family, but a foolish woman over time will tear it down by her own actions.” ~ Proverbs 14:1 (TPT)

Heart Truths

I’ve come to believe that this is how love really works. It doesn’t always shout to be powerful. It doesn’t always show up in grand gestures.

Sometimes love is soft, handwritten, a whispered prayer, a kind word, or a pause to reflect.

It’s the quiet commitment to love intentionally even in the midst of full, busy lives.

Loving Well in Action

I want you to know that your words carry power. They can build, bless, and breathe life.

Here’s how you can start loving well right where you are:

  1. Rethink how you use your words.
What you speak has the power to heal or to hurt. Pray and ask God to guide your heart and your tongue.

  2. Speak life with intention.
Let your words be seeds. Make it a habit to call out the good, especially in your home and let your words and your actions take root in the hearts of those you love.

Remember, you don’t need grand gestures to make a great impact, just heart, consistency, and the courage to love well. When in doubt…write a love note 💌
