Celebrating Friendship by Loving Well

Have you ever stopped to think about the people in your life who bring color, joy, and meaning? The ones who don't just show up for the highlight moments but walk with you through the ordinary days, the hard days, and everything in between. Without them, life would feel incomplete.

I've learned that loving well means not waiting until we lose someone to recognize their value. It's about pausing long enough to say, “I see you. I cherish you. My life is better because of you.”

Heart Truths:

There's a saying that people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. But here's the truth: good friends are gifts from God. True friends are rare treasures.  They don't just add value; they reflect God's love by standing steady with us through every season. So, Denard when you find one, keep them close because life was never meant to be done alone.

Can we be real? Sometimes we get so used to their presence that we forget to honor them. We assume they know how much they mean to us. We should celebrate, affirm, and remind our people how deeply they matter to us. Loving well calls us to be intentional.

 Loving Well in Action:

So how can we love well in friendship? Here are two simple ways:

 1. Say it now, not later.  Take a moment today to send a text, voice note, or call a friend who adds value to your life. Don't assume they know, remind them. You never know how much those words may mean in the moment.

 2. Celebrate on purpose. Mark your friend's milestones: birthdays, accomplishments, or “just because” moments. Loving well is celebrating people in the ordinary and the extraordinary.

So, today I celebrate my best friend of almost 25 years. Although thousands of miles away, distance has never been a barrier. We've proven that love, when nurtured intentionally, can cross miles with just one call, one message and one prayer.

I encourage you to also pause to honor your friends, to celebrate them, and to give them their flowers while they're alive. Let them know today how much they mean to you.

Scripture Reflection:

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” – Proverbs 17:17
